The chronology stated in Kanchi matha texts recognizes five major Shankaras:
Adi, Kripa, Ujjvala, Muka and Abhinava
Patanjali
The Vyakarana Mahabhashya of Patanjali uses the word 'Kanchi' and it can be thus understood that the word Kanchi also has a Sanskrit base.
